Raw Vegan Hot Chocolate

The days are getting colder and shorter.

The perfect cozy treat to celebrate October is with raw vegan hot chocolate. 

It can be difficult to eat healthy during the holiday season.

However, there are sneaky ways to add antioxidants and vitamins through delicious chocolatey treats. This recipe calls for three simple ingredients; hot water, raw cacao, and medjool dates. This hot cocoa is creamy, rich, sweet, and everything you want a cup of cocoa to be but without the guilt.

Make sure you have cacao not cocoa.

Cacao has more antioxidants than blueberries, highest plant source of iron, and a natural mood elevator and antidepressant. Among other awesome benefits. Cocoa, although they taste exactly the same has been processed & has lost all of its healthy goodness. {I did add vegan marshmallows which totally defeats the purpose of a healthy drink but balance, right? ? Just omit the marshmallows for a truly raw beverage} Enjoy!

Raw Vegan Hot Chocolate


  • 2 1/2 C hot water (enough for one large mug)
  • 4 medjool dates
  • 1 tbsp raw cacao


  1. Boil the water, then add the ingredients.
  2. Allow the dates to sit in the water for 5 minutes or so, until the dates begin to soften.
  3. Blend until smooth.
  4. Feel free to add toppings, such as vegan marshmallows or vegan whipped cream 🙂
