We finally made it to the coast and it was wonderful, sometimes i forget we are only 3 or so hours away. It was Meadow’s first time seeing the ocean and her reaction was priceless. We drove to Seaside first and went straight to the beach when Meadow got a glimpse of the waves, her eyes widen and her mouth dropped and she kept pointing and saying “wow!” hahah, she is so funny. I think she was scared at first because she was holding on to Mitchell so tight and she did not want down. She had the cutest facial expression the whole time, she was beaming with joy. After a while she wanted down and started walking towards the water. I was going crazy over her little foot steps, so tiny!! I think we took 50 pictures of just her feet.
The next day we headed to Cannon beach and we had the classic Oregon coast experience. It was so misty and gloomy that everything looked white, it felt like we were surrounded by clouds. We loved it, it was chilly and cozy so we drank coffee all day, had a fire by the beach and snuggled. I fell in love with the beach cottages and the coastal style/vibe it had going on which i don’t know if you noticed but i only packed stripes so Mitchell and Meadow were matching the whole time, haha.
I think my least favorite part is taking Meadow to restaurants, she is so active and it can get a little stressful. I would love to hear suggestions, how do you take a toddler out to eat?!?!? For us, outdoor patio is almost a must, there’s a cute cafe in Sisters (Angeline’s bakery and cafe) where we love to go because Meadow can just run around and find sticks and rocks to play with while we eat. In bend there’s a brewery that is parents paradise, Crux, huge outdoor space with food trucks and people just picnic on the grass and let their kids run free while enjoying delicious local brews.
The Oregon coast is breathtaking but we were really happy to get home to beautiful blue bird skies and views of the cascades. I think we are truly mountain people. Hope everyone is having a great week!
