Freedom ride! ??
Mitchell and I were usually too lazy for early morning 4th of July parades but having a little toddler changes everything. We just want her to experience it all and have as much fun as possible.
Our day started in the morning, it was a gorgeous day and we walked over to the old fashioned 4th of July celebration at drake park. After watching the amusing and celebratory Freedom Ride that locals unofficially recreate annually (think critical mass bicycle events with beer) we strolled to Drake Park. It was straight out of a movie; children participating in sack races, watermelon eating competitions, aerial dancers, it was a very festive sight and so much fun. Being very crowded we decided to walk over to CHOW, a breakfast brunch joint in a cute neighborhood. We had the best experience, they have a large patio that wraps around the restaurant with a veggie garden and Meadow just played and ran all over the place while we waited to get seated. Mitchell and I had complimentary coffee and watched our little girl play. Once we were seated we told our server we were vegan and they were so accommodating and extremely vegan friendly. It was so refreshing because we are used to just getting oatmeal ? Mitchell got blueberry pancakes with vegan sausage and I got “huevos rancheros” with tofu and roasted potatoes. If you’re ever in Bend, you gotta go.
We picked up our dog Cherise headed back to drake where Meadow inevitably ended up in her bloomers playing at the beach and our dog took a dip. If you ever have the opportunity, spend 4th of July in Bend Oregon. It is the most enjoyable classic American celebration I have experienced.
